I am you, 8 years ago - struggling to start but now have a clear idea of where to start, so I plan on taking that step and see where it takes me. I’m excited to have you here to learn from.
Creator Science has already taught me so much - I’m excited to see more sides of Jay. 😃
it is great to see you here on Substack, I came across your website and podcast probably less than 6 months ago, and it is one of my favourite ones — somehow you manage to have a unique, thoughtful spin on every topic, even if it is something that so many other creators talk about.
It makes me want to join The Lab (even though I don’t consider myself a creator and only recently started blogging/substacking)!
One suggestion though if I may — please don’t say you are “starting from zero” here on Substack. Many people here already know you and your content, and just seeing your name pop up, they subscribe. So your path on Substack is not the path for majority of people who actually do start writing here. Just something to consider.
But once again, great to see you here and looking forward to reading more from you!
Love it. I joined here in 2019 basically because I determined it was the best way to practice writing. Still a solid platform for this I think. Good luck on the book
I started here on Substack a month or two ago because I was looking for a place to keep all my writing. Most of what I do is on LinkedIn, but it is incredibly difficult to find things on there once it is published. I also wanted a place I could write some longer-form content than what works on LinkedIn. Plus, there is sort of an email list component here that allows me to send out my stuff to my followers.
Like you, Substack is an experiment for me right now.
Ooo this is exciting to see!! I’m grateful you’re willing to open up and share about the same struggles many other creators face but are unable to express the thoughts. There will be many that read these pieces down the road and probably deeply resonate with them.
P.s. just to give a little vote in the category of your “I am a good writer” dialogue: I look up to your writing and ability to express ideas.
you're a good writer!
meaningful from you! 🙏
Substack just got a little better because of this :)
my guy. thank you 🙏🥦
Great to see you here jay, looking forward to getting a different point of view than just your creative science side!
Excited to see you over here on Substack, Jay! You were already in my inbox and podcast feed each week, now here.
i’m inescapable 😂
You are an amazing writer.
Dont dout yourself, keep writing :)
Thank you Nishat!
What I admire most is that you didn’t just import your 60k+ list, which you could’ve easily done.
That says a lot about your character and it’s inspiring. I’m excited to continue seeing this side of you, as I’m learning to be a better writer too!
Thank you Blake!

Hey Jay, I'm a huge fan of your youtube channel especially after first paddy interview.
I'm happy to see you here on Substack. I have just started school of clarity newsletter here.
Would love to work with you and your team someday, let me know if you are open to hire writers.

Very kind of you to say! And yes, I know I can’t totally start at zero without writing under a pseudonym

I really do love the way it’s intertwined with Notes too. Feels like a really smart product design
It had a slow start but the feed is solid now
Welcome!
Following your example here!
If it helps, I’ve had more traffic on Substack then I ever had on my Wordpress site. The discovery has been great, especially with Notes!
Thanks for sharing that!
